First of all, a heartfelt thank you for writing for me. I'm sure I'll adore whatever you give me!

Some generalities: I'm both a 'more of' & a 'more from' canon girl; that is, I'd be equally overjoyed to receive a story that captures the precise tone of canon and one that cleverly turns canon on its head & stomps all over it. I love stylish prose, structural interest, world building, politics, intellectual discussions, well-developed original & minor characters, villain PoVs, dollops of plot, plausible AUs -- and above all stories that surprise me. I'm equally keen on gen, het & slash, though I usually prefer to close the bedroom door.

I don't tend to enjoy heavy-handed angst, PWP, hurt/comfort, slapstick humour, crackfic & fluff (especially involving babies/young children), and please don't give me a suicide story.

As this journal is recent & still sparse, try my recommendations site if you're interested in further hints as to my fictional tastes; I've amassed quite a large collection of Silmarillion & Earthsea stories there over the years, and there's also one or two Vorkosigan & Dalemark selections. My fanfiction masterlist might also give you some ideas.

I was rather verbose in my prompts, so there's little extra to add; I'll just stress that in most of these it's the universe that truly intrigues me, so feel completely free to emphasise other characters if your muse takes you that way. And -- finally -- feel free to throw away everything I've written to write the story that calls to you.

Character: Thorion
I'd love to see something addressing the relationship between Ged and Thorion while Ged is Archmage. Alternatively Thorion's rivalry with Irioth or his relationship with, say, the Doorkeeper or Azver would also be great, as would the tensions between Roke and the new king. I'm particularly interested in a behind-the-scenes, warts-and-all portrayal of the internal politics of the Roke School, as seen in 'Dragonfly' and 'On the High Marsh', rather than the somewhat idealised view of the school given in the earlier books. Gen or slash equally welcome; prefer nothing beyond hard R.

Character: Aral Vorkosigan
My favourite aspect of the series is its depiction of politics and society on Barrayar, and I would love to see more of this. Perhaps an untold incident during the Regency or Aral's stint as Prime Minister. Or, how did Ezar come to trust Aral? Other favourite characters include Gregor, Illyan, Alys & Piotr, and I wouldn't mind if the main focus fell on any of these. Gen, het or slash equally welcome, although I believe Cordelia when she says that Aral is monogamous after their marriage; prefer nothing beyond hard R.

Silmarillion & History of Middle-earth
Character: Pharazon
A friend hooked me with the phrase 'techno-Numenor', but never got around to writing it; I'd simply adore a steam punk vision of Numenor at its height. If this doesn't inspire then Ar-Pharazon's view of the world would be interesting -- I've a soft spot for villain PoV stories. Or, what did the ordinary Numenoreans think of Ar-Pharazon's policies? If you've read the Numenorean material in 'Unfinished Tales', then I'd also be equally delighted by something set at any time during Numenor's history. Gen, het or slash equally welcome; prefer nothing beyond hard R.

Character: Navis
I find the years DWJ left out of 'Crown of Dalemark' the most intriguing, and would love something set during the Civil War or the subsequent reconstruction early in Amil's reign. How did the relationship between Mitt and Navis work, and how did it change as Mitt matured? To what extent was the course of the war driven by Alk's technological innovations? How did Navis get on with the northern earls? Other favourite characters include Alk, Kialan, Moril & Biffa. Gen, het or slash equally welcome; prefer nothing beyond hard R.
